Garamvári Estate: Furmint Sparkling Wine, 2013
The style of Garamvári Estate’s sparkling wine is determined by the basic characteristics of the varietal. Character-based fruitiness can be perceived alongside the dynamic acids. Quince, citrus and mango notes mingle in the taste. Several years of aging allows the perfect CO2 integration to be refined; not only do the acids become finer, but the nose also develops sweet spices, like cloves and cinnamon. The Furmint type is an outstanding base wine that can be aged for long time and that changes its face and character depending on the soil. The wine received several gold medals, including 2016 Sparkling Wine of the Media, organised by Wine and Market magazine. This sparkling wine accommodates itself well to heavier dishes, such as red meats, but it also serves well as a partner for friendly chats. The interview with Vencel Garamvári is here.
