Tiffán’s Winery: Cabernet Franc, 2011
“Cabernet Franc has found its natural home in Villány,” wrote Michael Broadbend in Decanter in 2000.
Tiffán’s Winery‘s Cabernet Franc gives the wine softness and ripe tannins. “Villány chose Cabernet Franc as its flagship variety as, while the world is full of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, we feel that Cabernet Franc is our own,” says Ede Tiffán. This 2011 Cabernet Franc proves for us the raison d’etre of the variety. Cocoa bean character, this is an exceedingly elegant lot. Three weeks fermentation in stainless steel. The grapes came from 53-year-old vines in Sterntal vineyard.
